Give the Gift of Jam!

With the holidays upon us, we’d love to recommend the perfect gift: a membership to the Blue Chair Fruit Jam Club!

Members of the Jam Club receive shipments of 3 surprise flavors every other month; these flavors are frequently brand-new flavors not yet available to the public or small batches that may never show up anywhere else!

Last month’s Jam Club members received one jar each of: Provencale Tomato-White Nectarine Jam, Rosemary-Damson Jam, Blood Orange-Chestnut Honey Marmalade with Rosemary.

Whether you’re not sure which flavors to pick for your loved one or you know they have a voracious appetite for jam, our Jam Club is sure to please! Sign up for the Jam Club here.

Weekend Flavors – November 27 + 28

Happy post-Thanksgiving! Are you as stuffed as we are?

So now that Thanksgiving’s passed, we all know what time it is: holiday chaos time. Luckily we’ve got you covered; jam and marmalade make the perfect host/ess gift for holiday parties, a few jars will conveniently fit in a stocking, The Blue Chair Jam Cookbook will make your favorite jam-maker squeal with glee, and our jams are the perfect pair for an cheese plate while entertaining. What more could you ask for?

In the spirit of the season, we have some exceptionally delicious flavors for you this weekend. We even have some Thanksgiving Cranberry Sauce to help you power through leftover turkey sandwiches, although we also think it’s great to mix in with greens for a quick and easy nutritious side!

All Markets (Grand Lake 11/27, Temescal 11/28):

YUM. We’ll also have signed cookbooks with us for sale, a few of which will be gift-wrapped with our adorable wrapping paper! Let the festivities begin…

Market Flavors 11/13 + 14

Mmm, we have a little bit of everything for the markets this week! Just as we’re gearing up for Thanksgiving time, we thought we’d bring out some of our summertime favorites — like Golden Sweet Apricot Jam. There’s still a little time to reminisce about summer before jumping into the holidays, right?

Market Flavors for Grand Lake (11/13) & Temescal (11/14):

  • Golden Sweet Apricot Jam
  • Lemon Marmalade
  • Strawberry-Meyer Lemon Jam or Strawberry-Blood Orange Jam
  • Seville Orange Marmalade with Vanilla & Muscovado
  • Black Mission Fig Jam with Cardamom & Coffee
  • Blood Orange-Quince Preserves with Rose
  • Early Summer Peach Jam
  • Gingered Tomato-Nectarine Jam

Toast Post – November Edition

As summer fades to fall, we notice a change in our morning routines: a little more lingering in bed before starting the day, a different choice of tea, and, if you’re us, a new toast + jam combination that’s seasonally appropriate.

It probably comes as no surprise that we LOVE talking deciding how to use our new favorite jam or marmalade — would it be better on sourdough or walnut bread? with or without butter? We want to share with you what Blue Chair Fruit is currently enjoying on these crisp autumn mornings.

Rachel: Early Girl Tomato Marmalade on Della Fattoria Semolina Pullman Loaf with salted Organic Valley butter. Accompanied by Kusmi Tea’s Troika with milk!

Jo: Early Girl Tomato Jam and Brie cheese and Acme’s walnut levain, yum.

Luz: English Marmalade with nutella on Firebrand’s brioche with Cafe de Olla (Mexican spiced coffee — Luz has made it with Blue Bottle’s Ethiopian washed amaro gayo with great success)

Jamie: Damson Jam on any good cinnamon-raisin bread with a little salted butter. With, as always, PG Tips black tea.

Kate: Adriatic Fig & Candied Ginger Jam with Cowgirl Creamery’s Fromage Blanc, on Alvarado Street Bakery’s California Style Complete Protein Bread. Add in even more ginger with Pukka Herbs’s Three Ginger Tea!

Just for fun, here’s a sweet little music video with stop-animation toast — apparently they used 2,430 pieces total! Hopefully at least a few of those pieces were enjoyed…
